For new graduates

VetBridge: the first year, with a mentor beside you

A full DVM associate contract, a fully paid salary, a starting bonus, PTO and paid licensing, plus dedicated mentors for case assistance and guided objective-based learning. Brycg calls it no strings attached.

Chapter 01

What the first year actually looks like

A VetBridge candidate is hired the way any new associate is hired, onto a full-time schedule with a fully paid salary at one of Brycg's hospitals: Liberty Hill Animal Hospital, Pointe 183 Animal Hospital and Urgent Care in Leander, or Homestead Animal Hospital and Urgent Care once it opens in Manor. The contract includes the same starting bonus, PTO and paid licensing any Brycg associate gets. What VetBridge adds on top is a dedicated mentor, someone assigned to sit in on cases with you rather than simply sign off on them after the fact.

Because every Brycg hospital is built as a seven doctor practice open seven days a week, that mentor's time is not a favor squeezed into a packed schedule. It is staffed for. You will see general practice, urgent care and surgery in the same rotation, at a facility averaging roughly 6,000 square feet with equipment sized for a seven doctor caseload, so the range of cases you're exposed to in year one is wide by design rather than by luck of the draw.

The mentorship itself is objective-based. It is built around specific skills you are working toward, diagnosing, operating, managing a case start to finish, rather than a vague promise that someone senior is around if you get stuck.

What no strings attached means here

Brycg's own description of the program is that it exists to encourage new veterinarians to become well versed in small animal general practice, urgent care and surgery, so they can actually use the skill set they spent years training for. No strings attached is their phrase for a program built around your development, not around locking a new graduate into a repayment clause or a multi-year buyout if you leave early.

That matters because the alternative model, common enough in this industry that most new graduates have heard of it, ties mentorship or signing bonuses to a contract you cannot easily exit. VetBridge is framed as investment first: Dr. Matthew Brooks, Owner and CEO, and Dr. Ashley Brooks, Head of Veterinary Mentorship, describe the philosophy as investing in new graduates because that investment is what carries the profession forward.

Chapter 03

Who VetBridge is not for

VetBridge is a first-year program. It is built for someone newly graduated or close to it, who wants structured mentorship before working independently. If you are a seasoned doctor who already has that foundation and is looking specifically at growth and ownership timelines, the path to ownership below is the more direct read, since it covers the associate, hospital director and owner progression without the first-year mentorship framing.

Either way, the way in is the same: apply through Brycg directly or write to BrooksDVM@brycgvets.com, the address every opening on this site points to.
